Abstract

This article examines the attitudes of Aristotle and Ibn Sina on the definition of concepts in the context of logical analysis. It is proved that the methods of argumentation, some instances of refutation, methods of correct definition of concepts and the process of studying mistakes that arise in this case are important. The author substantiates that Ibn Sina, having studied the "Categories" of Aristotle, considered the relationship of idea and name, predicate and subject; ten categories; the concepts of "preceding", "subsequent" and "simultaneity"; potentiality and actuality; four causes. It is also noted that Aristotle approached the definition of concepts through logical, cognitive and methodological attitudes in turn, Ibn Sina subsequently developed these scientific views. By implementing a comparative analysis of the views of thinkers about the purpose of demonstration as the formation of an idea about the subject, the author notes that a complete definition is the basis of an apodictic judgment, an incomplete definition is the foundation of a dialectical judgment.
