RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CLINICAL AND LABORATORY CHANGES IN PATIENTS WITH LIVER CIRRHOSIS OF VIRAL ETIOLOGY

Liver cirrhosis (LC) is a common chronic progressive liver disease characterized by diffuse fibrosis, pseudolobulation, and ultimately portal hypertension, liver failure, or hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) [1]. The main causes of liver cirrhosis are chronic infection with hepatitis B virus (HBV) or hepatitis C virus (HCV), which affect about 296 and 170 million people, respectively, worldwide [2,3]. This scientific study examined clinical and laboratory changes depending on the severity of the disease in patients with LS of HBV and HCV etiology. The study included 39 patients with HBV LC and 26 patients with HCV LC. Depending on the severity of the disease, changes in clinical signs and laboratory diagnostic parameters were noted [4,5].
