Keywords:

The article traces the development of scientific views and approaches to the national policy of the Soviet state over the period from the establishment of Soviet power in Turkestan, and then its strengthening in Uzbekistan, up to and including the so-called perestroika. The author shows what changes have taken place in the coverage of the content of national policy along with changes in the approaches of the ruling party to the national issue - from the bold statement of the problems of national relations in the 20s of the last century to the narrowing of their content by a one-dimensional vision of the development of the latter in line only with the flourishing and rapprochement of nations characteristic of the period from the second half of the 30s to the end of the first half of the 80s of the twentieth century. It also reveals the process of moving away from a one-sided vision of national problems and moving to their deeper and more comprehensive consideration during the years of perestroika.
