XORAZM TAXYASINING QADIMGI DAVRLARDAN BUGUNGI KUNGACHA BO‘LGAN TARIXIY-ETNOLOGIK TARAQQIYOTI

Abstract

This article examines the historical and ethnological development of tahya, one of the traditional headwear forms of the Khorezm region, from ancient times to the twenty-first century. Archaeological, historical, ethnographic and linguistic sources are analyzed comparatively in order to identify the ancient roots of headwear culture in Khorezm, its development during the early medieval period, the influence of Islamic and Turkic cultural traditions, its transformation during the Khiva Khanate, and its ethnographic forms in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Particular attention is given to representations of headwear found in archaeological monuments and on ancient Khorezmian coins. Although modernization in the twentieth century reduced the everyday function of traditional headwear, tahya acquired renewed cultural significance during the independence period as a symbol of national identity and heritage. The study concludes that Khorezmian tahya represents an important element of material culture, reflecting historical memory, aesthetic values, craft traditions and ethnocultural identity.
