Abstract

This article investigates the functional and pragmatic features of tourism terms borrowed from English into the Uzbek language. The aim of the study is to identify the nominative, informative, communicative, regulative, identificational, persuasive, evaluative, and standardizing functions of terms that entered the Uzbek tourism discourse via English. The research employs descriptive, comparative, lexical-semantic, contextual, functional, and pragmatic methods of analysis. The results indicate that English loanwords not only serve to name new concepts in Uzbek tourism discourse but also perform the functions of streamlining professional communication, delivering information, regulating service consumption processes, and exerting a pragmatic impact on the addressee in specific contexts.
