Proper classification of crimes is one of the most crucial and complex tasks in judicial and investigative practice. This article examines the characteristics of the object of the crime and the objective aspect of hostage-taking. The increasing number of such crimes necessitates a more detailed elaboration of theoretical and practical aspects of their qualification. The main focus is on various conditions under which hostage-taking occurs, as well as the correct understanding of the elements of the crime. The article analyzes the serious consequences that may arise as a result of taking a person hostage, including threats to their life and health, as well as the impact of such actions on the qualification of this crime. Thus, the main features of the object and objective aspect of the crime in question are highlighted, which allows for a deeper understanding of theoretical knowledge in the field of criminal law and improvement of law enforcement practice.
