This scientific article is devoted to the professional characteristics, powers and functions of civil servants in the United States, the specific features and legal basis of the organization of the civil service. The American civil service was heavily influenced by the federal form of government, the presidential form of government, the constitutional principles of "check and balance" of power distribution, and other peculiarities of the political organization of society.
