PROSPECTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ASIAN SYSTEM OF HUMAN RIGHTS: TRENDS AND ROLE OF UZBEKISTAN

The article is devoted to the prospects for the formation of the Asian system for the protection of human rights. The author notes that regional human rights systems are designed to complement the universal human rights system and to increase the effectiveness of measures on ensuring and protection of human rights. Particular attention is paid to the role of Uzbekistan in the formation of the Asian human rights system, in particular, the initiative put forward by the head of Uzbekistan at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly to hold the Asian Forum on Human Rights.

(According to the Regulations, the main functions of the Commission include the development of a strategy for the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms; raising public awareness of human rights among the peoples of ASEAN countries through education, research and dissemination of information; developing common approaches and positions on human rights issues of interest to ASEAN; preparation of case studies on human rights issues in ASEAN countries, etc.)
