Abstract

The article presents the author's reflections on certain aspects of imposing criminal penalties that do
not involve isolation from society. In particular, it is emphasized that in the context of applying severe
punitive measures, there is a noticeable degradation of moral values both among individuals subjected
to punishment and among those responsible for executing such punishments. Moreover, the lifestyle
of convicted persons becomes increasingly harsh and coarse. At present, it is evident that reliance on
severe punitive measures in combating crime does not yield the anticipated results. Therefore, in the
criminal law policy of our country, special attention is being paid to the imposition of penalties that
do not involve deprivation of liberty. By examining this issue, the author concludes that the
incorporation of proposals and recommendations regarding the system of criminal penalties not
involving isolation from society, as well as the peculiarities of their imposition, into the legislation
will contribute to advancing reforms in this area to a new level.
