Европа Иттифоқи янги қонун Маълумотларни ҳимоя қилиш бўйича умумий регламент (ГДПР) қабул қилди, бу Европа Иттифоқида мавжуд маълумотларни ҳимоя қилиш қонунчилигини мустаҳкамлайди. Низомнинг ўзини ҳуқуқий восита сифатида танлаш ГДПРни Директивдан кучлироқ қилади, чунки у қоидаларнинг ягона ва изчил бажарилишини кафолатлайди ва шу билан Европа Иттифоқининг ягона рақамли бозорини бирлаштиради. ГДПР маълумотлар субъектлари учун истеъмолчиларнинг рақамли бозорда шахсий маълумотлари устидан назоратини кучайтириш учун мўлжалланган бир нечта янги ҳуқуқларни жорий қилди: маълумотларни кўчириш ҳуқуқи, розиликни бекор қилиш ҳуқуқи ва унутилиш ҳуқуқи. Ушбу мақолада истеъмолчиларнинг шахсий дахлсизлиги ҳуқуқларини ҳимоя қилишда уларнинг самарадорлигини баҳолаш учун ушбу ҳуқуқларнинг ҳар бири батафсил муҳокама қилинади.
