The concept of the Spiritual Grammar of Identification (SGI) occupies an important place in the study of African Pentecostalism because it explains how religious language and spiritual practices shape both personal and collective identities. One of its major positive aspects is that it strengthens social cohesion and reinforces the sense of belonging among members of Pentecostal communities. Another important advantage is that the idea of a divine calling promotes moral responsibility, commitment, and dedication to religious leadership and service. Therefore, this article attempts to reveal the philosophical
and social essence of the Spiritual Grammar of Identification (SGI) and its role in the formation of religious identity in Nigerian African Pentecostalism.
