Abstract

This article analyzes the characteristics of mythology as a socio-cultural phenomenon in the framework of various research directions. It is also analyzed that the evolution of mythological knowledge is related to the development of society. Emphasis is placed on the necessity of mythological thinking, an integral element of human knowledge, a peculiar aspect of the perception of being. The essence of mythology as a social phenomenon has been philosophically analyzed and the role of mythology in human existence has been revealed.
