This article provides an integrated sociological analysis of theoretical approaches to the social security system of persons with disabilities. It examines structural functionalism, conflict theory, symbolic interactionism, phenomenological and social-constructionist perspectives, welfare-state theory, the social model of disability, the biopsychosocial framework and the human-rights approach. Disability is interpreted as a multidimensional social phenomenon shaped by the interaction of
individual functioning with social institutions, distribution of resources, everyday meanings, environmental barriers and legal guarantees. The article also discusses the methodological relevance of these approaches for the ongoing development of social protection in Uzbekistan.
